Code Camp

Bridging the digital divide

What is a code camp?

We aim to increase exposure and participation in ICT and STEM education in schools and digital literacy in the wider community. Through code camps we encourage engagement by prioritising culturally responsive pedagogy and relevant mentors/guest speakers. We want students to see themselves reflected in the subjects, learning, and industry so they feel it’s a real option for them - whatever their background.

Ensuring the underprivileged thrive in a digital world

Studies have shown that people with ICT and STEM skills are more flexible, creative, and can take advantage of a changing workplace and new jobs. Allowing them to better provide for themselves, their families and their communities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the age limit for Code Camp?

Age limits vary from camp to camp, typically ranging from 10-18. We also run training programs for adults and teachers.

Is the camp solely coding? What other activities do you include?

In addition to a big focus on coding, our camp emphasises teamwork, leadership, developing confidence, creative problem solving skills and making new friends with similar interests.

Its not good to be working on a computer all the time; balance and variety are important! About 70% of activities involve a computer, with lots of that time spent planning, designing and discussing in pairs and teams; its very interactive!

What are some of the activities at Code Camp?

Students learning the basics of coding then work in teams to build websites, apps and games.

Other activities include team challenges such as orienteering, building and racing small cars, programming robots, and other outdoor problem solving and physical challenges. Camps also feature inspiring guest speakers from companies like Google.

The students really enjoy being around other kids with similar interests and making new friends!

How can I prepare for Code Camp?

Working through the Code Avengers free introductory courses prior to camp will help you get the most out of your Code Camp experience.

Do you offer a discount for two or more kids in one family attending the same Code Camp?

We are happy to provide a discount to families sending more than one child to the same Code Camp. Contact codecamp@codeavengers.com to discuss an appropriate discount.

Are the Code Camps overnight?

No. Unless stated otherwise, our Code Camps are day camps only.

Does Code Avengers provide or organise accommodation?

Code Avengers does not provide or organise accommodation.

If the camp host provides accommodation, this will be stated on the registration details for the camp.
